S E C T I O N : T A S T E
I remember listening to this album in a beach in Camarines Norte and felt myself floating all throughout. There are just albums where they are meant to be played on a certain scenario---and Brasilian Skies is one of them(almost every Takanaka albums, honestly). Of course, one could still enjoy this album anywhere but there's something that makes one want to just go outdoors and enjoy the sun while listening to this.
Favorite track:Star Wars Samba
There's a reason this is my favorite Jazz Fusion Album. From my first time listening to this band's music, I fell in love with their energy which this album perfectly embodied. The whole album really gave off the vibe of walking through the night; however, each track has something of their own that fits on whatever kind of night you are having.
Favorite track:Dream Hill
I am far removed from obsessing over alt-rock and Radiohead but this album is one which I could always just tune up and listen to any track. A truly timeless album, especially track 2-7 which is just a heavenly experience to listen to.
Favorite track:Paranoid Android
Still ongoing...
Been a while since I last watched a romcom but I could confidently say that I have standards regarding this genre.
Yeah, this is probably one of the best ones I had watched; not the best but it is up there in the upper echelons. I like that even if the show is about high school romance, it feels mature on the aspects of relationships and what having one means and how that could change a person for the better. While the main pairing of Yosuke and Miya was certainly cute, the side pairings steal the show. Speaking of that, each dynamic(even the ones with friends) were different from one another but all were enjoyable. I recommend this one a lot.
I read volume three of the novel before watching this season; which did not take away my enjoyment from both. There's just something about Apothecary Diaries that pulls me in everytime.
As one who is not really exposed to Chinese-esque historical media, it was a surprise that this would be one of my favorite series ever. Perhaps it was already set in stone for someone who watched half a thousand episodes of Detective Conan and an avid watcher of Science shows. I really just did not expect that I would like a historical-drama; seems that all you needed to do is add a drug-obsessed protagonist to make something impeccable.
Would probably rewatch this and make an in-depth blog.
Still reading it...(spoiler: I'm enjoying it very much)
While I did not enjoy it as much as the last--it is hard to top, to be fair--this volume has its merits. One of the things that I liked the most in this volume(and perhaps the series as a whole) was the slowburn romance which accelerated in the second half; one thing I was worried about was that the romantic subplot would get stale--which I assumed will happen here with 3 volumes in--especially when this novel is structured in a semi-episodic manner. However, it does not overstay its welcome while not feling forced which made me lve it even more.
This is my favorite volume and I probably need more time to spill my reasons hence I will be making it short for now. What I think this volume does really well is expanding on the side characters we already know and new ones that gives us more context on what is going on in this world. The subtle stories that are not fully told to us were entertaining as well, the episodic structure of Apothecary Diaries doesn't hinder them and even gives each a part on the overarching narrative that the story is telling. Speaking of the overarching narrative, it really does well on paying off the questions left in the last and the current volume which gives satisfaction to me. This one just made my love for this series set in stone, and I probably need an essay just to explain why.
Even with hindsight, most of my opinions regarding this book stays the same. While I definitely think Hyuga-Sensei had improved on the future installments of this novel, it cannot be denied that the things volume one has established was strong. The first volume is my least favorite but it is only that due to the steady increase in quality, this book is good, period.
